Mohyeddin Kassar محي الدين قصار

I am a Syrian American living in Chicago area. I was born in Damascus. My interests are focused on area of poverty and development, economic growth and market mechanisms during democratic transition. I am a founding member of the Syrian American Society (SAS) and served as its elected president 2011 -2014. Currently I am an active member of SAS.

I served as the head of the Damascus Declaration Committee in USA 2007-2010 and as a Member of the Executive Board Abroad of the “National Council for Democratic Change” 2008-2010. I am the founder of the Syrian American Congress 2004-2006 (SAC.) I left SAC after the first conference of 2006. 

Professionally I am a financial economist with more than 15 years experience. I am currently vice president of research and analysis at Taqwa Trades, Inc (a financial research company.) I am also a member of the Board of Advisors of the Master of Science in Predictive Analytics at Northwestern University where I teach Risk Analytics, Statistics and Economics. My expertise focuses on risk and financial analyses in the banking, credit card and insurance industries in such firms as Wachovia Bank, HSBC, Allstate, Energy Resource Center and SPSS.

مصرفي وإقتصادي وأكاديمي جامعي سوري أمريكي، من مواليد دمشق. تتركز اهتماماتي العلمية على مواضيع الفقر و التنمية والنمو الاقتصادي وآليات السوق خلال التحول الديمقراطي. أعمل منذ 1993 في سلك البحوث الاقتصادية وتحليل المعطيات وتطبيقاتها في قطاعات المالية الأمريكية، عضو المجلس الاستشاري للمجاستير التحليلية ومدرس في جامعة نورث ويسترن. عضو في الجمعية الاقتصادية الأمريكية. سياسيا: مؤسس الكونغرس السوري الأمريكي، فضلت اعتزاله بعد المؤتمر الأول 2006. عضو الأمانة المؤقته لإعلان دمشق في الخارج 2008 -2010. وممثل الإعلان في أمريكا. عضو مؤسس للجمعية السورية الأمريكية ورئيسها
